Terms & storage agreement

The plain-English version of how storing with us works. The full agreement is signed when you move in — ask us anything before then.

Last updated: January 2026 · This summary is for guidance and does not replace the signed storage agreement.

1. The agreement

These terms govern the storage of goods by you (the “Customer”) in a container provided by Squirrel Self-Storage Ltd (the “Company”). By reserving and occupying a container you agree to be bound by the signed storage agreement, of which these terms form a part.

2. Your container

You will be allocated one secure steel container of approximately 160 sq ft. You hold sole access to your unit by means of the key and padlock provided. The container remains the property of the Company at all times; you are renting the space within it.

3. Payment

Storage is charged at the agreed weekly rate, payable in advance. Where a free-removal offer applies, a minimum storage period of three months is required. Rates may be reviewed with reasonable written notice. Access may be suspended where payment is overdue.

4. Access & opening hours

You may access your container 8am–8pm Monday to Saturday, and 9am–8pm on Sunday. Please drive carefully within the site, give way to other vehicles, and ensure your container is securely locked whenever you leave.

5. What you may store

You may store lawful personal or business goods only. You must not store: food or perishables; living things; combustible, flammable, explosive or hazardous materials; firearms or ammunition; illegal items or the proceeds of crime; or anything that emits fumes or odour. If in doubt, ask us first.

6. Security & your responsibilities

Every container has a 5-point locking system and a high-security padlock fitted under a steel plate. The site is covered by CCTV. You are responsible for locking your unit and for the suitability of how your goods are packed and protected. We recommend you do not store anything of irreplaceable sentimental value.

7. Insurance

Goods are stored at your own risk. The Company does not insure the contents of your container. You are strongly advised to arrange your own insurance cover appropriate to the value of the goods stored.

8. Ending your storage

Either party may end the agreement with reasonable notice as set out in the signed agreement, subject to any minimum period. On leaving, please remove all goods, sweep out the container and return the padlock and key. Charges continue until the unit is emptied and keys returned.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Otherwise, the Company's liability is limited as set out in the full storage agreement. The Company is not liable for loss or damage arising from causes beyond its reasonable control.
